The project, located in the headwaters of Fox Creek, a tributary of the Rhode River on the western coastal plain of Maryland, used a novel approach to improve the water quality and decrease the peak discharges of runoff from a recently developed building site prior to discharging into a small tributary that flows directly into the Rhode River. Interception of runoff from the roof of a new dormitory and runoff from adjacent impervious and pervious surfaces was directed into a 0.23 acre bog-wetland complex that was installed between the dormitory and one of the current parking lots. Water from the dormitory roof and adjacent areas is directed into the bog-wetland system through a series of sand fills, cobble weirs, and earth berms.
